Sleep Apnoea

Implemented safely for better health

The detrimental effects of snoring and sleep apnoea form part of our whole health care philosophy at Muller Road Dental Care.

When is snoring a concern?

Snoring is often thought of as harmless, however in some cases, it can lead to a more serious problem known as obstructive sleep apnoea. This is a chronic disorder where the upper airway collapses during sleep.

Sleep apnoea can affect mental and emotional health. If left untreated, it has the potential to increase the risk of heart disease, hypertension, weight gain, diabetes and other medical problems. While loud and frequent snoring is almost always a symptom of sleep apnoea, not all snorers have the condition.

Why should you talk to your dentist about treatment for snoring and sleep apnoea?

As health professionals who are familiar with the ways snoring and sleep apnoea negatively affect a person’s health and wellbeing, dentists have been instrumental in developing alternative solutions to these medical conditions.

Muller Road Dental Care can treat patients with mild to moderate snoring and sleep apnoea conditions. Other treatment solutions include making lifestyle changes; using breathing or snoring devices designed to keep the airway open during sleep; or a sleep apnoea machine. Surgery is only ever a last resort.

When treating our patients, we will work with you to devise the ideal treatment pathway.
